Laws Against Sugar?

A recent article in the journal Nature out of the University of California San Francisco is calling for the regulation and taxation of sugar-containing foods, much like what’s currently in place for alcohol.

It’s a tough topic, since sugar is likely hugely responsible for health care costs, but is legislation and government control really the answer?  Can people make their own decisions about healthy sugar intake, or can’t they, and if they can’t, causing more health care costs for everyone in the forms of private or public health insurance, should we all be responsible for those who refuse to use sugar responsibly?

All too often this is exactly how things tend to go down.

A member of our team is a long-time student of law and politics.  It is a real struggle to support as little government interference in our lives, but while watching so much irresponsibility among people, causing all of our costs to rise, that we’re stuck in this middle-middle land of not knowing which side to support.

We will always lean heavily towards as little government interference as possible, but, we also recognize that health issues in the western world are skyrocketing exponentially, seemingly by the year.  Hence this site!!
